Here are the materials for the Narrative Discipleship class I taught on 18 February 2018 at Kristova crkva Kušlanova in Zagreb, Croatia. The materials are in Croatian and English. The videos follow the handouts.
Handouts:
Part 1. We reviewed the material from last week, the two tools (seeing the Bible as a single story, seeing God as the main character in every story.) We talked about what Genesis 1 showed us about who God is. And I answered a question/comment from last week about Ancient Near Eastern texts that are parallel to stories from the Old Testament (e.g., the flood story from Gilgamesh, the Enuma Elish.)
Part 2. We talked about how stories create worldview, and further explored the differences between Israel’s worldview as communicated in the materials (stories, laws, poetry, etc.) of the Old Testament and the worldviews of other ancient Near Eastern cultures, as expressed in their literature.
Part 3. We dig into the story of Genesis 2, and began exploring what the Bible says about what it means to be human. Do we have a purpose? Are we nothing but animals? Do we have free will? In Genesis 2, the Bible begins answering these questions.
